Film and Television Studies

This is where I go full-nerd.
Hear me out, though. I've been watching and talking with my friends about movies and TV shows my whole life, so, to me, there's nothing greater than being able to throw in a Troy & Abed reference into your analysis paper or geeking out over the soundtrack of Kill Bill with a fellow Tarantino fan (who also happens to be your lecturer).

What I'm trying to say is, I tend to over-analyse things in everyday life, so the field of media research is the one place where this chronic tendency is actually welcomed and leads to something constructive.

My research and theoretical work is extremely important to me, as I always try to find the connection between theoretical concepts, ideas and how are these put into practice by film and television producers. This offers me a greater insight into the artistic means of creation, the production processes and the links to the social world and how it is influenced by media texts.

My BA dissertation was a real opportunity for me to explore subjects that are of great interest to me. In my study, I looked at discourses of gender and feminism in the comedy show ‘Parks and Recreation’, outlining my interest in the power of media texts, and specifically of comedy, to open the conversation about issues of social importance such as those aforementioned.

Below are some of my previous works, encapsulating my investigative adventures:
